ABOUT SAMUEL M. POYNER

Sam maintains a broad solicitor’s practice, delivering practical, client-focused legal advice in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, and corporate/commercial law.

In his real estate practice, Sam represents both buyers and sellers in residential property transactions. He also acts for real estate developers throughout Nanaimo and the surrounding region, advising on all aspects of strata developments and residential subdivisions.

In the area of wills and estates, Sam helps his clients plan for the future with carefully tailored estate and incapacity planning, including the preparation of wills, powers of attorney and representation agreements. Sam also helps executors navigate the estate administration process, including applications for grants of probate.

Sam’s corporate and commercial practice focuses on supporting small business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs. He assists with the incorporation of new companies, maintaining corporate records and the preparation and review of commercial contracts and agreements.

Sam grew up on Vancouver’s north shore and earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University. Following university, he worked in both the hospitality and construction industries before moving to Australia to attend law school.

After graduation, Sam articled with a boutique litigation firm in North Vancouver, where he stayed on as an associate following his call to the bar in 2011.  In 2016 Sam relocated to Nanaimo to raise his family.

Outside of the office, Sam is actively involved in the community, often found on local sports fields and ice rinks, where he volunteers as a coach for youth sports in Nanaimo.
